Every year the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center in Kissimmee, Florida, goes all out for their Christmas offerings and this year is even bigger than ever. There are still the old, and favorite, attractions but there are also new events and attractions for this year.
New this year is the JOYFUL Atrium Light Show. This nightly show consists of a six story Christmas tree that looms over the Emerald Plaza and is surrounded by eight twinkling light panels suspended from the ceiling.
At multiple times through the evening hours the tree and the light panels come alive and take you on a journey around the world with a choreographed light show set to a holiday musical score. This show can be seen from practically anywhere in the Emerald Plaza and should definitely not be missed!
Also new this year is the CIRQUE DREAMS UNWRAPPED STAGE SHOW. This is the third year that Cirque Dreams has presented a show at the Gaylord Palms and this year’s 25 minute show is a completely new and creative take on a child’s Christmas dream. It features acrobatics – both on the ground and in the air – and other stunning feats of showmanship. It is presented two times a day during the week (no Thanksgiving Day shows) and three times a day on the weekends. There are three different shows so it is definitely worth multiple viewings. This show is free to see but they do offer upcharge guaranteed seating.
Coming back this year are the Alpine Village where you can snow tube ($), visit Santa ($), throw snowballs at targets ($), purchase various tasty treats and shop in the Christmas market.
And last, but not least, is ICE!® Every year the Gaylord Palms invites the ice sculpting wizards from Harbin, China, to come and build a winter wonderland here in sunny Central Florida.
This year the theme is Christmas Around the World and more than two millions pounds of ice have been carved into ice sculptures and the signature two story tall ice slides. Each room features holiday scenes and traditions from around the world as well as a visit to the North Pole to see Santa and his elves.
There is also a section called the Frostbite Factory where you can see the artisans from Harbin carving ice into sculptures live. As in years past the walk through culminates in a stunning nativity scene carved in crystal clear ice.
A preview of this event was provided at no charge to Ultimate Orlando by the Gaylord Palms. Please visit their website (https://www.marriott.com/
